Colorado authorities investigate deadly crash involving pedestrian on Highway 85 in Brighton

Brighton police investigated a deadly crash involving a pedestrian on Highway 85 at East Bromley Lane early Tuesday morning. Investigators said the northbound lanes of Highway 85 were closed in that area for nearly two hours near where the collision happened.

Officers said they were called to the scene about 4:20 a.m. after a caller reported a vehicle striking a pedestrian who was crossing the roadway. 

When officers arrived, they discovered a male lying on the ground with severe injuries. The initial investigation revealed that the driver of the vehicle, a 38-year-old male, was traveling northbound on the highway crossing through West Bromley Lane when the pedestrian crossed the road and was struck by the vehicle. 

Police said the driver pulled over and remained on the scene. The driver was not injured and officers said he cooperated with the investigation. 

Despite life-saving attempts by first responders, the pedestrian died at the scene. The pedestrian's identity has not been released.
