Car Loses Control, Crashes Into Radio Station

GREELEY, Colo. (CBS4) - Late Sunday night, a car traveling northbound on 11th Avenue in Greeley lost control and crashed into the KFKA building.

"I heard this big bang, and when I came outside I saw a car that was in the building," said witness Vonshay McCarther.

The car then caught fire, and witnesses were able to pull the driver to safety. The driver was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

"As he was pulling him out of the car, he put him on the ground. And as he put him on the ground, the car started to catch fire," McCarther said.

The fire did not spread to the building, but crews had to stabilize the heavily damaged brick building. No one was inside the impacted office at the time.

The car was traveling at a high rate of speed when it lost control, but the cause of the accident is still under investigation. The building is part of the KFKA 1310 AM radio station.
