Disaster Strikes But Broncos Still Lead Lions 14-12 After 3rd Quarter
DETROIT (CBS4) -The Denver Broncos lead the Detroit Lions 14-12 at Ford Field in Detroit after three quarters.
The Broncos had a disaster on the first drive of the second half. On a third and five Peyton Manning completed a pass to Demaryius Thomas who was getting tackled right at the first down marker. While Thomas was going down to the ground he stretched the ball out in an attempt to get the first down but lost the ball and the Lions picked it up and ran it back for a touchdown.
Thomas was ruled down before the fumble but after the official review the referees overturned the call. But instead of a touchdown the Lions got the ball back at the 29 yard line much to the dismay of Lions fans. But the Lions subsequently moved the ball and scored on a Matthew Stafford pass to running back Ameer Abdullah. The Lions had to settle for only six points after a failed two-point conversion.
Juwan Thompson was ruled out for the rest of the game with a neck injury that occurred in the second quarter.
Both teams failed to score the rest of the quarter.
