BEAVER CREEK, Colo. (CBS4) - The late January blast of snow in Colorado's high country is great news for ski resorts across the state, and Beaver Creek is no exception.

"We've had 19 inches in the last four days and 12 inches in the last two days and it's still snowing, so we're very excited," resort spokeswoman Julia Littman told CBS4's Alan Gionet via Skype on the CBS4 Morning News on Wednesday.

"We're just trying to get the word out. We're want everybody to come out and enjoy this fresh snow," she said. "It's beautiful up here. It really does look like a winter wonderland."

The snow at most resorts in Colorado up until this point hadn't been that impressive, but skiers and resort employees are now hoping for the best for the remainder of the ski season. The snow totals this week are higher than projected in many areas, including at Steamboat Ski Resort. Winter Park reported on Tuesday that they got five inches of snow overnight, and were looking at some projects that as much as 16 inches could fall in the next 48 hours.

On Tuesday resort spokeswoman Loryn Kasten said the snowfall there (almost two feet of fresh snow in 24 hours) has triggered a lot of interest from across the country in the form of calls and emails to their reservation center.

One skier there told CBS4 it was cold on the slopes on Tuesday, but well worth it.

"In the morning, went up to the top and got some good fresh snow," said Nico Farrell, who was visiting from California.
