Bail Bondsmen Assist In Search For Stabbing Suspect
WHEAT RIDGE, Colo. (CBS4) - Police in Wheat Ridge are continuing to search for the man wanted in a double stabbing at a trailhead, and now a group of bail bondsman are assisting in the effort.
Police believe Marvin Wilson attacked a woman and her little boy Thursday morning at the trailhead located at the Clear Creek Greenbelt path near 48th and Otis streets. Police said the mother and boy, a toddler, were stabbed. The woman was stabbed in the leg and the child in the stomach.
The female victim was a witness to a crime the suspect committed years ago. She had tried to get a restraining order against him but he didn't show up for the court hearing.
The woman knows William Ellenburg, a bail bondsman, through his work. The two hadn't seen each other in a while, but Ellenburg said he is trying to help out, and he's asking others who work in his field to get involved.
"I just want to get him back in jail and get him in front of a judge whatever happens to him after that has nothing to do with me," Ellenburg said, referring to Wilson.
Wheat ridge police Commander Dave Pickett said Wilson is someone they have been looking for for years.
A warrant was issued for his arrest in 2007 but they were never able to track him down. Now they have multiple agencies across the Denver metro area looking for him.
"It might take some time but we almost always find our guy," Wilson said.
Both victims are expected to recover from their injuries.
Wilson, 44, is described as a white male, about 5-foot-11 and 145 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes and extensive tattoos covering his arms, shoulders and chest.
Wilson has a long rap sheet that includes sex assault on a child. Court records show he was arrested in 1999. Then in 2007, according to an arrest affadavit, another juvenile victim came forward and reported she had been raped by Wilson two years earlier. A warrant was issued for his arrest, but police lost track of him until now.
Anyone who sees Wilson is asked to call police or 911 immediately and urged not to approach him.
