Babysitter Charged With False Reporting In Dog Attack On Child
GREELEY, Colo. (CBS4) - Police have charged the babysitter of a boy attacked by a dog with false reporting.
Greeley police officers and Animal Control officers responded to the report of a 7-year-old being attacked by a dog at 5 p.m. Monday.
Upon arrival, they found the boy with severe injuries to his head and neck, with puncture and laceration wounds caused by a dog. The boy was taken to the hospital and eventually released after treatment for non-life threatening injuries.
Initial statements from the babysitter, identified by police as Patricia Castillo, who was in charge of the boy at the time of the attack, were found to be inconsistent with evidence. Further investigation resulted in the babysitter being charged with false reporting to authorities.
The attack was determined to have happened inside the home, not outside. The owner of the animal, identified by police as Robert Castillo, was issued a citation for child abuse-negligence resulting in injury, owning an aggressive/vicious animal, and failing to provide vaccination information. The dog was place on a 10-day quarantine.
Police went door to door Monday evening looking for the responsible dog, and it was located at approximately 9:45 p.m.
