Aurora Man Arrested In Possession Of Explosives Case

AURORA, Colo. (CBS4)- Police in Aurora have arrested a man for allegedly possessing explosives.

The investigation began when police were notified by another law enforcement agency that they were in contact with a man who wanted to dispose of explosive devices at about 7 p.m. Thursday.

The man was driving and the devices were apparently in his car. He was advised to go to the nearest police or fire station.

He went to Aurora Fire Station 8 located at 250 S. Chambers Road. That's where the Arapahoe County Bomb Squad responded and took possession of the devices.

The investigation revealed the materials for the explosive devices came from 1104 Tucson Street. Officers went to that address and contacted the resident of the home, Ronald Weese.

A safety search was conducted to ensure no other people were inside. During the search more explosive devices were seen and officers evacuated the house for safety reasons.

Weese was arrested and is being held on a $6,000 bond for felony possession of explosives. A search warrant was being executed Friday afternoon with the assistance of the Arapahoe County Bomb Squad, FBI and ATF.

There have been no bomb threats associated with the incident. Tucson Street from 11th to 12th and two blocks of 11th Street remain closed during the search.

The homes on either side of Weese's home have been evacuated.
