A-Basin Tests Snow Guns In Preparation For Snowmaking
ARAPAHOE BASIN, Colo. (CBS4) - Arapahoe Basin welcomed autumn by testing their snow guns on Tuesday.
Typically, A-Basin begins making snow in the first week of October, and opens the slopes after 10-14 days of snowmaking.
Early testing ahead of snowmaking weather is necessary to ensure that the equipment works properly, and that the team is well trained.
In a few weeks, when the weather is right, a team of 10 snowmakers will begin the process to cover the slopes in snow.
Last season, the ski area opened on October 17. A date has not yet been set for this year's opening day.
Loveland Ski Area plans to test their snow guns next week.
