97-Year-Old Man, Grandson Attacked While Walking To Church

DENVER (CBS4) - A 97-year-old man and his grandson are recovering after being attacked while walking to church last week.

The attack happened in the 1300 block of Washington Street. A man jumped out of some bushes and assaulted the pair.

"The suspect yelled at the pair, then began to accost the 97-year-old man. The victim's grandson tried to push the suspect away from his grandfather, but was unsuccessful," police said in a statement.

The suspect and the victim fell to ground and the suspect fled. Police found him nearby and arrested him. He's been identified as John Franklin Robinson, 50.

It's not clear what the motive of the attack was.
