300 Goats Helping Boulder With Weed Control

BOULDER, Colo. (AP) — About 300 goats will be grazing on property managed by the city of Boulder to control invasive weeds this month and next.

City officials say the goats will graze in natural areas and at the Boulder Reservoir water treatment facility. A trained guard dog will be used to protect the goats from predators.

The city has been using goats to control invasive weeds for more than a decade. That reduces the amount of herbicides the city has to use.
