2 Men Dead, Suspect Sought In East Denver Double Homicide

DENVER (CBS4) - Denver police are investigating a double homicide that took place early Wednesday morning in east Denver. Detectives are examining surveillance video to see if the suspect or suspects may have been captured on video.

When police arrived at the Xenia Village Apartments Wednesday morning they found one man dead. A second man was rushed to the hospital where he died a short time later.

"I've known him for about 10 years," said one victim's neighbor Charles McCullough.

"We are all hurting because he was such a nice guy. In fact, he had just joined the church," said neighbor Claudette McCullough.

The crime took place at approximately 2:40 a.m. at the apartments located in the 1400 block of Xenia Street.

"One party was outside, one party was inside the location," said Denver Police spokesman Ron Hackett.

So far there's no suspect description and no motive for the homicides.

"At this point we honestly don't know," said Hackett.

Police are not releasing how the victims were killed.

The Xenia Village Apartments are run by the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless. Residents in the area said many of the people who live there are homeless and trying to get back on their feet.

One of the victims was engaged to be married.

"He was getting married May 16 of this year," said Claudette.

The names of the victims has not been released.
