DENVER (CBS4) - An apparent case of Memorial Day weekend road rage has left two people in the hospital after they were shot.

A building located at the corner of Broadway and Mississippi Avenue was riddled with bullet holes following the incident. Nobody inside the building was injured.

One bullet among many blasted through a window and flew across a lobby, hitting a picture.

"I was laying in my bed and I woke up and I said, 'Those are gunshots,' " said a resident of Broadway Station Apartments.

He said he was jolted by the rapid gunfire. He withheld his name, but not his opinion.

"I don't feel quite safe and I'm actually going to ask for a reduction in my rent," he said.

Another resident saw the car that was hit with windows blasted out speeding south on Broadway.

Police told CBS4 that based on witness statements it was a case of road rage that had more than one shooting scene.

"People on these roads, they get pretty feisty pretty fast. So you just have to drive safe and keep your head up," Denver resident Madison Smith said.

Police say two adults were shot and suffered injuries not considered life-threatening. One of the victims was a woman. A neighbor told CBS4 a small boy was also in the car.

"We saw several police passing him back and forth, he was crying," the neighbor said.

Police said the both parties likely didn't know each other.
