Late former Gov. George Ryan remembered for halting executions in Illinois

Former Illinois Gov. George Ryan has died. He served only one term before a corruption conviction sent him to prison. Before that, he halted prison executions in Illinois, helping pave the way to end the state’s use of the death penalty.
