House votes to avert government shutdown; Senate vote expected before deadline

Congress is on track to avert a federal government shutdown. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said he’s confident the Senate will pass a spending bill before the midnight deadline, after the House approved a bipartisan deal earlier in the day to keep the government funded.
