A teenage boy driving a stolen vehicle was killed in a West Garfield Park neighborhood crash Friday morning after allegedly driving away from an attempted traffic stop on the West Side.
The latest killing happened shortly after 8 p.m. along the border of the South Shore and South Chicago neighborhoods, where officers responding to a shooting in the 2800 block of East 79th Street found a 30-year-old man on a sidewalk with two gunshot wounds to the chest.
Police said the victims were standing on the corner of Kostner Avenue and Monroe Street, near Kostner Food Basket & Deli, when a silver vehicle with custom rims drove past and someone fired shots around 9:15 a.m.
