The company says that in its first four days on store shelves, it sold over 3.5 million units, surpassing the initial launch weeks of not only every Nintendo console in history but also the PlayStation 4 and 5.
The new Switch went on sale around 11 p.m., the first late-night release in years.
The Switch 2 will also have more third-party software, with titles exclusively on the console/portable.
With parental control limits activated, players under 16 can only chat with friends who their parent or guardian has approved.
The popular gaming company had postponed preorders in the U.S. and Canada while it worked to determine how the Trump administration's tariffs would impact the console launch.
Bloomberg reports the console, which was announced with a $450 price tag, is also expected to see a price hike.
Nintendo says pre-orders in the U.S. will be delayed because they are assessing the potential impact of tariffs.
Nintendo has announced a June 5 launch date for its latest gaming console, the Switch 2.
The date looks like "MARIO." In celebration, Nintendo unveiled numerous offers, events, and more.
