Two forwards did come back for the 'Hawks. Taylor Raddysh (left groin) and Joey Anderson (left shoulder) played right wing on the top two lines after missing five and 10 games respectively.
Bedard was hit by Devils defenseman Brendan Smith after the 18-year-old center carried the puck into the 'Hawks' offensive zone.
Bedard leads the Blackhawks with 33 points – 15 goals and 18 assists – in 37 games played so far this season.
Arvid Soderblom made 33 saves for the Blackhawks.
The Blackhawks have lost 11 consecutive road games (0-10-1) and have the second-fewest points in the NHL at 24.
Bedard, who leads NHL rookies in scoring, sent a wrist shot under the glove of Winnipeg's Connor Hellebuyck for his 15th goal of the season.
Jordan Kyrou scored twice, and Justin Faulk, Jake Neighbours and Brandon Saad also scored in the third period to help the St. Louis Blues erase a three-goal deficit and beat the Chicago Blackhawks 7-5 on Saturday night.
The Blackhawks were buoyed by the return of defensemen Kevin Korchinski and Jarred Tinordi.
Ryan Donato added a goal and an assist for the last-place 'Hawks, who had lost four in a row.
