Zambrano return expected between July 30 and Aug. 1

Carlos Zambrano's rehab in Triple-A isn't anything spectacular. Lou Piniella described his one scoreless-inning Big Z pitched Thursday as "OK" but backed him up on the fact it has been 3 weeks since he had pitched. Zambrano threw 15 pitches averaging speeds in the low 90s and Piniella stated he needs more work.

Piniella also said he wants Zambrano to apologize to his teammates before explaining himself to the media about his outburst on June 25th when facing the Sox. Though he needs more work, Zambrano is expected to return to the Chicago Cubs during the series against the Colorado Rockies between July 30th and August 1st.
