Youth Starting To Prevail

Eventually the Cubs will likely start turning over their ballclub and then we'll see even more of the Cub's youth. But what we're seeing already is pretty damn good and it was on full display Sunday night. Against perhaps the best pitcher in baseball the combination of Tyler Colvin and Starlin Castro combined for 6 hits while scoring 3 runs. Lou Piniella juggled his lineup for the umpteenth time and had Colvin and castro hitting one and two. Piniella was so enamored with their success that he says he will keep them right where they are for the forseeable future.

Geovanny Soto redeemed himself one day after dropping that ball that cost the Cubs Saturday's game. Soto had a  couple of hits including  home run while driving in 3 and Derrek Lee and Alfonso Soriano also had 3 RBI's with Soriano hitting his 17th home run.

Tom Gorzelanny lasted into the 7th inning for his 5th win and the Cubs took 3 out of 4 in the series and had a chance for the 4 game sweep. Also in this series the North Siders scored double digits in 2 of the games so maybe their long dormant offense is finally waking up.

Next up is a 3 game series against Houston and then following a day off the Cardinals come to town for the weekend so this looks to be this team's last hope to do anything before the upcoming trading deadline.
