Will White Sox Be Buyers Or Sellers At Trade Deadline?
(WSCR) With the All-Star break officially over, the next big checkpoint in the baseball season in the trading deadline. If teams haven't already evaluated their position in the standings to determine if they'll be buyers or sellers, that evaluation will happen soon.
The Cubs, with the second worst record in the league, will clearly be trying to move any players they can get a solid return for. But for the White Sox, they're decision might not be as clear.
"I think if you're the White Sox and you're five [games] behind the Tigers, who have been outscored this season, you have to go for it," Rob Neyer, of SB Nation, said on the Mully and Hanley Show.

"Look, from a practical standpoint, the White Sox and the Tigers have the same run differential. The White Sox have been outscored by 17 runs, the Tigers by eight runs. That's nothing. That could change in one game. So, to me, they've got to go for it."
While the White Sox aren't mathematically eliminated and they're still within striking distance of the Tigers, the fact that they've received almost no production from Adam Dunn and Alex Rios isn't instilling confidence in the fanbase.
"I would agree that Rios and Dunn are going to hit better [in the second half]," Neyer said. "Unless they're hurt, and they've played all season so there's no reason to think they're hurt, they're going to do better. I mean, what Dunn has done this season is, I mean, batting .160 through an entire first half of the season ... I don't think I've seen anything like this. I mean, it's been a bizarre half-season for him, and also for Rios."
