White Sox To Open 2016 Season On April 4 In Oakland

(CBS) The White Sox will open the 2016 season April 4 by playing on the road against the Oakland Athletics, MLB announced Tuesday in releasing tentative schedules. It's the first time Chicago will open in Oakland since 1975.

Chicago's home opener will be April 8 against Cleveland.

The White Sox and Cubs will play four times in 2016, with U.S. Cellular Field hosting games on July 25 and 26 and Wrigley Field welcoming the rivalry on July 27 and 28.

Other than the Cubs, the White Sox's interleague games will come against NL East teams. Their schedule features four three-team homestands (May 17-25, June 7-15, Aug. 19-28 and Sept. 5-15) four three-city road trips in 2016 (May 26-June 5, July 27-Aug. 4, Aug. 9-18, Sept. 16-25).

The White Sox will finish the 2016 season with a seven-game homestand, facing the Rays four times and the Twins three times.

Finalized game times and a complete broadcast schedule will be released at a later date.
