White Sox Send Erik Johnson To Triple-A Charlotte

(CBS) Two weeks before the start of the regular season, the White Sox's pitching rotation appears to have taken shape.

Chicago optioned right-hander Erik Johnson to Triple-A Charlotte on Monday, meaning right-hander Mat Latos will likely join John Danks in filling the final two spots in the rotation behind Chris Sale, Jose Quintana and Carlos Rodon. Johnson had been given the chance to compete for a rotation spot, but he'll start the season in the minors after allowing nine earned runs in six innings of Cactus League competition. Carson Fulmer, the team's top pick in the 2015 amateur draft, has impressed this spring and could figure into the rotation at some point this year, but he's not expected to make the Opening Day roster.

In other news, the White Sox have also reassigned right-hander Tyler Danish and infielder Steve Lombardozzi to minor league camp. Their spring roster now sits at 40 players.
