White Sox Intermezzo

We are the turkey(s) in your sandwich today, appearing between the noon Sox/Tigers start and the 5:30 pregame of the nightcap.

Since Mark Buehrle is on the mound for the former, we will be ready to jump on around 3:30 if need be.

Don Cooper says Edwin Jackson was tipping his pitches.  The Sox cracked the code and battered him twice late last year, but now believe a quick fix could be in order.  Worked with Esteban Loaiza and Jose Contreras, not so much with Javier Vasquez.

The Cubs crashed through the portcullis of Castle FunBad last night, and now can revel in the delights afforded within.  Let the raucous celebrations ensue -- pitchers of whom you have never heard (and may or may not actually exist outside of some splinter-reality) swinging from chandeliers, overpaid veterans guzzling from tankards of mead, and Lou Piniella and Alan Trammell chanting in florid organum as Tom Ricketts plucks a lute.

Scotty and Stan Bowman can't hear any wailing about Antti Niemi's depature, because they have championship rings stuck in their ears.  Simply, they don't think goalie is as important a position as you do.

If David Haugh and others want to complain, they must offer an alternative move to keep the Hawks cap-legal.  If Niemi's in, who's out, and why?

And now that I have further digested Jerry Angelo's comments during his talk with Mully and Hanley, I am most troubled by a seemingly-obvious statement of how important this training camp is to his team -- that they really need these reps.  What decent team "needs" any of this, other than to sort through the bottom of their roster and check to see who's in shape?  Excitement about "urgency" and "intensity" in early August sounds an awful lot like desperation.
