Two Charged In Elgin Home Burglary

ELGIN, Ill. (STMW) -- Two teenage boys were charged Friday with burglarizing a home in northwest suburban Elgin.

Officers responded to the 300 block of Waverly Drive about 10 a.m. after receiving a report of two suspicious people possibly attempting a burglary, Elgin police said.

They found two males wearing backpacks leaving a house and entering the backyard, Elgin police said.

The pair was detained while officers discovered an open door the males were seen exiting, Elgin police said.

The owner of the home was contacted, returned to the residence and confirmed that items were missing, Elgin police said.

The missing items were found to be in the possession of the two suspects, Elgin police said.

Cristian A. Valdivia, 17, of the 700 block of Cedar in Elgin, was charged with one count of residential burglary and a teenage boy was taken to Kane County Juvenile Justice Center for a violation of probation.

Valdivia is expected Saturday in bond court.
