Thornton Earns Closer Role For Sox
Coming into spring training this year, the White Sox weren't sure who they had in mind for the closer position. Early on, there was talk Chris Sale would take the spot, but Saturday Ozzie Guillen announced Matt Thornton was more deserving of the role.
Thornton converted eight of ten saves last season and signed a $12 million extension earlier this month.
