The up hill climb is getting steeper
With Friday's 7-4 loss to the Blue Jays in 12 innings the White Sox are now seven and a half games behind Minnesota in the AL Central. Yes there are 132 games to go but the concerned looks on some of the players faces are telling you that the ship better be righted soon or this season could sink for good.
At least the Sox finally showed some offense as they got home runs from Mark Kotsay, Alex Rios and AJ Pierzinski. Pierzinski's came in the bottom of the 9th inning and the Sox had a further chance in that frame but Juan Pierre tried to bring the winning run home on a bunt and popped it up instead to end the threat.
Then in the 12th JJ Putz put a couple of runners on and got a pitch up in the zone and Alex Gonzalez took it out of the park for the winning runs. Putz suffered the loss with Mark Buehrle not figuring in the decision after going 8 strong innings.
So it's back to the drawing board with Jake Peavy going on Saturday night and Paul Konerko hopes to be back in the lineup after missing his second straight game with a stiff neck.
