Teenage Boys Shot, Wounded In Englewood Vacant Lot

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Two teenage boys were shot and wounded Wednesday morning in a vacant lot in the Englewood neighborhood.

The shooting happened around 7:40 a.m. in the 6700 block of South Wood Street, police said. The victims – boys age 15 and 16 – were walking through a vacant lot when two gunmen – also believed to be teenage boys – ran up to them and started shooting, police said.

The younger boy was struck in the side and was taken to the University of Chicago Medicine, while the older boy was struck in the thigh and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, police said. Both boys were reported in stable condition as of later Wednesday morning.

Descriptions of the gunmen are limited to observations that one might have bad dreadlocks and was wearing a dark hooded sweat shirt and khaki pants, while the other was wearing all dark clothing, police said.
