Teen Caught Taking New Year's Morning Joyride On Libertyville Lawns

LIBERTYVILLE, Ill. (CBS) -- A teen from Libertyville has found himself in police custody, after ringing in the new year by driving onto sidewalks and people's lawns.

Libertyville police said that about 1:20 a.m. on Sunday, Raymond Casmir Trelka, 18, was driving on sidewalks and lawns on Loyola and Kristin drives.

When police checked his vehicle, they found an open container of alcohol and drug paraphernalia, a release from police said. Trelka, of the 900 block of Quaker Hill Lane in Libertyville, was arrested and his vehicle towed.

He was charged with reckless driving, illegal transportation of alcohol and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Trelka was released on a $2,000 personal recognizance bond. He next court date is scheduled for Feb. 8 at 3 p.m. at the Mundelein Branch Court of the Lake County court system.
