Cops Release Photo Of Man They Believe Beat Store Owner With Bat

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Police have released a photo of a suspect wanted for beating a Northwest Side store owner with a baseball bat last week.

The man walked into a store with a baseball bat in the 5500 block of West Belmont Avenue about 10:50 a.m. on July 16, according to a community alert issued by 16th District police.

The man asked the victim if the store had any size 3X t-shirts. When he was told that the store didn't have any, he walked around the counter and beat the victim in the head and body with the bat, according to police.

The store owner was taken to Our Lady of the Resurrection Medical Center, where he was treated and released, police said.

The suspect is described as a black male between 5-foot-8 and 6 feet tall, about 200 pounds, with brown eyes, black hair and facial hair. He has an unidentified tattoo on his upper right arm and was wearing a dark-colored bandana, a white tank t-shirt and blue shorts at the time of the attack.
