Stolen iPhone Leads Police To Robbery Suspects In Oak Brook
CHICAGO (STMW) -- Two men, who police tracked through a stolen iPhone, have been charged with beating and robbing a man Wednesday night during an argument over gas money in west suburban Oak Brook.
The three were inside a silver Dodge Intrepid when they began arguing over gas money near Route 83 and I-88 about 8:30 p.m., according to Oak Brook police.
When the vehicle stopped near I-88, all three men got out, and two of them attacked the third, according to police. They beat him with a stick, then stole his money and iPhone 6.
Officers responded and gave first aid to the victim, who was taken to a local hospital, treated and released, police said.
Police tracked the iPhone, which was still inside the vehicle, to a gas station in the 12700 block of Pulaski Road in Alsip, according to the statement.
Lorenzo Liggins, 25, of Chicago; and Marcus Taylor, 28, of Dolton were arrested there about half an hour later by Alsip police and Illinois State Police. They were charged with battery and theft, Oak Brook police said.
Both were released on their individual recognizance bonds, with a court appearance pending.
