Stanley Cup, Conn Smythe Trophies Not Exempt From Airport Security

CHICAGO (CBS) -- The Stanley Cup might be the most famous trophy in sports, but it doesn't any special treatment in the security line at the airport.

Even the Stanley Cup has to go through screening, as evidenced by photos shared by Philip Pritchard, the "Keeper of the Cup" for the Hockey Hall of Fame.

The trophy will be at the United Center on Monday night, with the Blackhawks in a position to close out the Stanley Cup Final, should they beat the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The Conn Smythe Trophy, awarded to the player judged to have been the most valuable during the Stanley Cup Playoffs, also took its turn going through an X-ray machine en route to Chicago on Monday. We can only imagine what was going through the minds of the TSA officers when the trophies showed up on their monitors.
