Silva's Sunday illness leads to hospitalization

Carlos Silva started Sunday against the Rockies in Colorado, but was taken out during the first inning after just four batters due to illness. After being taken out from the game, Silva started experiencing an abnormally high heart rate and was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital in Denver.Although they corrected the problem on the way to the hospital, Silva will remain overnight at the hospital for observations. Silva hadn't reported heart problems before.
Carlos Silva mentioned to the trainers his heart was racing and had trouble breathing. After being hooked up to heart monitors, he was found to be suffering from PSVT, which is an abnormally high heart rhythm.
Upon returning to Chicago, Silva will be evaluated by the Cubs cardiologist.
