ROMEOVILLE, Ill. (CBS) -- A serious accident snagged traffic on Interstate 55 in Will County during the afternoon rush.

The two-vehicle accident involved a semi-trailer truck on I-55 in Romeoville.

Illinois State Police said they were called at 4:20 p.m. to I-55 at Joliet Road. The vehicles were traveling in the left lanes when traffic began to slow down, and one rear-ended the other, state police said.

A passenger in the car was taken to an area hospital with minor injuries, state police said.

Around 4:39 p.m., the left and center lanes on the southbound side of I-55 were shut down. The shutdown lasted about 21 minutes.
