Robert Redford Behind New Series 'Chicagoland'

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Welcome to Chicagoland, Mr. Redford.

The legendary actor/filmmaker Robert Redford will be the creative force behind an eight-part documentary-style program about the city, titled "Chicagoland."

It will air on CNN in 2014.

In a statement, Redford said the series will explore the city's "profound daily challenges"--presumably including the city's problem with gang violence and restructuring the city's public education system.

The series will also focus on Chicago's "tough, visionary mayor" Rahm Emanuel.

"It's a city that wears its heart on its sleeve and I am honored to be a part of telling this story," Redford said.
