Reward Offered For Man Wanted In Far South Side Bank Robberies
(STMW) -- Authorities are offering a reward in the search for a man wanted for robbing two banks earlier this month on the Far South Side.
The first robbery happened Dec. 5 at a US Bank branch at 11159 S. Kedzie, according to a statement from the FBI. A man entered the bank about 9:15 a.m., made a threatening verbal demand for money and left the bank on foot.
A man matching the description of that suspect also entered another US Bank branch at 11150 S. Western about 10:30 a.m. Dec. 14, the FBI said. He again made a threatening demand for money before leaving the bank.
The suspect is described as a 6-foot to 6-foot-2 black man weighing 250 to 300 pounds, according to the FBI. He is in his early to mid 30s and "heavy with a stocky build." He is considered armed and dangerous.
In the most recent robbery he wore dark clothing including a black skullcap and a black hooded jacket, the FBI said. In the first robbery he wore dark clothing, a stocking cap and a jacket.
No injuries were reported in either robbery.
A reward is being offered for information that leads to his identification and arrest, the FBI said. Anyone with information is asked to call the FBI's Chicago office at (312) 421-6700.
