Report: Epstein Reaches Out To Big Z
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A published report says Cubs president Theo Epstein has reached out to volatile starting pitcher Carlos Zambrano.
Zambrano tells a Venezuelan newspaper the new Cubs boss called and said he'd like to meet stateside at a future date, according to the website MLB Trade Rumors.
Zambrano has had a rocky relationship with his longtime team. Over the summer, he was put on the disqualified list after walking out on his teammates during a loss to the Atlanta Braves.
The Cubs appeared ready to part ways with the starter, but Epstein has only recently taken the reins of the North Side ball club.
