One Injured After Partial Derailment Red Line Train On North Side
UPDATE 4:43 p.m.
(CBS) -- Service on part of the Red Line on the North Side was temporarily suspended and one person injured after a partial train derailment Saturday afternoon.
The CTA says the partial derailment occurred just north of the Granville Red Line Station shortly after 2 p.m. The Chicago Fire Department says the train in the 1100 block of West Granville was evacuated and one rider was transported to the hospital with a shoulder injury.
Initially, service was suspended between Howard and Belmont. Service was restored late Saturday evening, though northbound trains were bypassing some stations because of previously scheduled track work, a CTA spokesman said.
