Recovery for sunken boat underway near 31st Street Harbor
Tow boats were deployed to recover a sunken boat found in Lake Michigan on Wednesday morning.
The submerged boat was seen just east of the 31st Street Harbor.
The Great Lakes District Coast Guard said the discovery of the submerged is likely connected to an incident reported this past Sunday.
The Coast Guard said they were notified by the Chicago Fire Department on Sunday that the boat was taking on water about 100 yards outside the eastern breakwall of the 31st Street Harbor. The boat operator reported that their bilge pumps could not keep up with the flooding.
The Coast Guard said all four people aboard the boat were rescued by a good Samaritan.
