Q101's DJ Electra Arrested For Allegedly Slapping Boyfriend

CHICAGO (CBS) -- The woman best known locally as DJ Electra from the old Q101 radio has been charged with domestic battery, for allegedly smacking her boyfriend in their Ravenswood Manor neighborhood home.

Christine Pawlak was arrested May 14 in her home in the 2700 block of West Sunnyside Avenue, near the North Branch of the Chicago River. She had hit her boyfriend, according to police News Affairs Officer Darryl Baety.

A police source said that before midnight on May 14, officers arrived and allegedly saw Pawlak chasing her boyfriend out of an apartment building. When officers intervened, Pawlak allegedly slapped her boyfriend once in the head in front of the officer.

The boyfriend signed a complaint that alleges Pawlak had struck him in the head and body several times with open hands, the source said.

She was charged with misdemeanor domestic battery and released on $2,000 bail on May 15, according to court records; an emergency order of protection also was issued against her.

Pawlak, as DJ Electra, worked for Q101 from 2005 until the station went off the air last year and flipped to become FM News 101.1.

Since going off the air, Pawlak has made headlines this past January for a brief gig as a reporter and interviewer for the AVN Adult Entertainment Expo in Las Vegas. She spoke with adult film stars who came to the trade show and awards ceremony, but emphasized that she was only helping report from the event and was not part of it, according to Chicagoland Radio and Media.

In November of last year, Pawlak published a column on detailing her experience at Q101 and the ultimate demise of the station.

Pawlak returns to domestic violence court on June 8.
