Prosecutors: Man Punched, Blinded Motorist In Road Rage Incident
CHICAGO (STMW) -- An Oak Park man blinded a motorist after punching him in the eye during road rage incident on the Near West Side, Cook County prosecutors said.
After Terrell S. Brown, 36, allegedly crashed into the other man's car in the Oct. 20 incident in the 300 block of South Western, Brown threatened to harm him if he called police.
When the 47-year-old man tried to call, Brown punched him in the left eye, prosecutors said. The injury left the victim permanently blind in that eye, prosecutors said.
Brown was arrested Friday after he was stopped by police for driving without headlights, prosecutors said. After learning he had an arrest warrant out for a suspended license in Berkeley, police discovered he was also wanted for the fall road rage incident, authorities said.
Brown is charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. He was also cited for a having a suspended license and not having headlights.
Judge Laura Sullivan ordered Brown ordered held in lieu of $200,000 bail Saturday.
Prosecutors said Brown has seven felony convictions, including a similar road rage/aggravated battery incident involving an off-duty officer.
