Police Warn Of Purse Snatchers On Bus Line

CHICAGO (STMW) - Chicago Police have issued an alert to riders of a South Side CTA bus route to watch their purses and be on the lookout for two young men who have been taking purses of bus riders this month.

Police say that through March, two young men have approached women riding the 55th Street/Garfield bus, between the Red Line (100 West) and the Green Line (300 East) CTA stations and taken their purses.

Both suspects are black males between 16 and 18 years old, a community alert said. One is between 5-foot-10 and 6-feet tall, weighing between 160 and 190 pounds, while the other is between 5-feet and 5-foot-5, between 100 and 120 pounds. Both have worn dark clothing.

If anyone has information on these crimes they are asked to call Wentworth Area detectives, at (312) 747-8382.
