Police Horses Harmed During Stable Break-In
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Several Chicago police horses are recovering after a vicious attack inside their stable.
The police department's mounted unit has always been housed at the South Shore Country Club.
Someone broke into the stalls and let 27 of the 30 horses out.

Then they sprayed fire extinguishers in the faces of the animals.
It also appears the suspects threw the extinguishers and struck the horses.
"They did not enter this to commit a theft; rather, they entered this to maliciously harm our horses -- for what reason, I don't know," Lt. Paul Bauer said.
All the injured horses are doing well and are expected to be back on the job as early as Tuesday.
