CHICAGO (STMW)-- A man and a woman are being held without bond, charged with murder in the August 2008 slaying of gas station owner Robert J. Ferris.

Ignazio Burton and Rose Burton were both charged with one count each of first-degree murder, according to police News Affairs Officer Laura Kubiak.

The Burtons are suspects in the death of 73-year-old Robert Ferris, who was killed by a shotgun-wielding thief about 3 a.m. Aug. 24, 2008 in the 4300 block of North Western Avenue, police said.

Rose Burton, 44, of an unidentified address in Sandwich, Ill., was booked into Cook County Jail Saturday after being ordered held without bond, according to the Cook County Sheriff's website.  Ignazio Burton, 42, was booked into Cook County Jail Friday after also being held without bond, according to the website.

Ignazio was already in the custody of the Illinois Dept. of Corrections on an unrelated charge.

Rose Burton is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing in Violence Court, (Br. 66) Monday.
