Orionid Meteor Shower Over Chicago Saturday, Sunday
CHICAGO (CBS) -- One of the most spectacular meteor showers of the year will be on display over the Midwest this weekend.
It's the annual Orionid Meteor Shower, when the earth passes thru the leftover debris from Halley's Comet.
The fast-moving streaks of bright light appears to fall from the shoulder of the constellation Orion.
This year's shower is expected to produce around 25 meteors per hour.
The first quarter moon will set around midnight, so its light will not interfere, but any cloud cover or bright city lights could.
The Orionid Meteor Shower is best seen around midnight and a couple of hours after, both Saturday and Sunday.
