One Trade Down…Another To Come?

Kenny Williams didn't promise that newly acquired Edwin Jackson wouldn't be moved in a  followup deal but he said the chances are extremely small. Jackson was picked up in a  deal on Friday for fellow pitchers Daniel Hudson and David Holmberg. Williams said he listened to Ozzie Guillen and his staff when they told him they needed insurance in the starting rotation. The strength of the Sox is in their bullpen and by getting another pitcher who can eat up innings it will keep that pen sharp down the stretch.

The rumor has been all along that Jackson might be involved in a follow-up deal to get Adam Dunn from Washington but in listening to Williams that doesn't sound like it will be the case. Williams says he still might have another deal in place but, as always, wouldn't reveal any further information. Give the man this, he's a great tease.

Jackson has been in pennant race games before with both Detroit and Tampa Bay and his claim to fame this season is pitching a no hitter. He also is much more familiar with the division then Hudson and is further insurance in case Jake Peavy is not able to go by next season.

It still appears that the Sox need another left handed bat but Ozzie Guillen asked for pitching and Williams delivered. The question is, will he deliver again by Saturday afternoon's trade deadline.
