Officials Hope 'Munger Road' Doesn't Lead To Too Much Curiosity
ST. CHARLES, Ill. (CBS) -- A locally-filmed horror thriller by a west suburban native opens Friday night at a theater in St. Charles, and it is raising some concerns that young people might try to go on their own to investigate the legend of Munger Road.
As WBBM Newsradio's Bernie Tafoya reports, the movie "Munger Road" is based on the urban legend that the ghosts of dead children will push stalled cars off the track on Munger Road near Stearns Road in Bartlett.

Eileen Phipps, village president of nearby Wayne, says she knows of people who tested the legend, putting baby powder on their cars' rear bumpers to see if there are any children's fingerprints left.
Se does not advise trying it.
"I'm sure that there's going to be the curious young people, especially with Halloween coming up, that are going to drive over there and see what happens," she said. "My hope is that none of them stop on the tracks and hit a train."
"Munger Road" is the work of St. Charles native Nick Smith. It takes place the night before a big festival in town--when a group of teens choose the wrong night to explore Munger Road.
Something terrible happens to the group has they come upon the spot. Then the police are called to figure out what happened to the kids and track down some sort of menace as thousands of people converge for the annual Scarecrow Festival in St. Charles.
The movie will open at the Charlestowne 18, at 3740 E. Main St. in St. Charles, this weekend. It will open at theaters throughout the Fox Valley next weekend.
