Notre Dame Signing Day: Irish Lose Highly Touted WR

(CBS) National Signing Day didn't exactly go as planned for Notre Dame despite head coach Brian Kelly putting together another solid recruiting class.

With Michael Floyd's departure to the NFL, incoming four-star wide receiver Deontay Greenberry (Fresno, Calif.) was supposed to come into South Bend and help fill the void.

Instead, he's headed to Houston.

Greenberry shocked Notre Dame Wednesday by backing out of his longtime commitment to the Irish and instead faxed his letter of intent to Houston.

Kelly still has a highly touted recruiting though.

Scout.com ranks the Irish class 16th overall and the average star rating of 3.69 ranks seventh on the recruiting web site.

Rivals.com ranks the class 19th overall and the average star rating of 3.53 ranks 10th.
