The decision to expand the NCAA Tournament was supposed to help reduce the controversy surrounding the teams made the cut and the teams that didn't.
But there's another problem the selection committee needs to address.
"I think they did a lousy job," Mike DeCoursey, of Sporting News, said on the Mully and Hanley Show when talking about the selection committee. "But I think what they have got to stop doing, is they have got to stop getting caught up in brand names, conference brand names and team brand names. And don't tell me that they don't do it, because all you have to do is look at that bracket to see it.

"I mean there is no way in the world that George Mason is only the 35th or 36th best team. There is no metric and no measure to put you at somewhere between 33 and 36 with either George Mason and Old Dominion. Look at the way they played, look at how they performed, look at who they've beaten and then tell me how you get to 35 or 36 with those guys, there's no way."
