Man Stabbed To Death In South Chicago Neighborhood

CHICAGO (STMW) - A man was stabbed to death Tuesday in the South Chicago neighborhood.

Police first responded to the stabbing in the 8700 block of South Houston Avenue at 2:18 p.m., police News Affairs Officer Daniel O'Brien said. They found the 31-year-old man critically wounded from a stab wound to his abdomen area.

Sergio Hernandez, of the 8600 block of South Baltimore Avenue, was taken to Northwestern Memorial where he was pronounced dead at 3:29 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

Area South detectives are investigating his death as a homicide.
