Man Robs Fifth Third Bank Branch In South Loop

(STMW) -- A man robbed a Fifth Third Bank branch Tuesday afternoon in the South Loop.

The suspect entered the bank at 601 S. Clark St. about 1:15 p.m. and gave the teller a note implying he had a weapon, according to Chicago Police and the FBI.

The teller complied and the suspect ran away with an undetermined amount of cash, police said.

He did not display a weapon and no one was hurt.

The suspect was described as a white man 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-11 wearing a green sweatshirt and jean shorts.

So far this year, there have been 72 bank robberies in the Chicago area. In 2014, there were 192.
